GOP Illegality Toward the Transgender Community

    We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all... are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

    Those sacred words come from America's Declaration of Independence from Great Britain.  The United States' founding fathers understood that in order for people to thrive it was necessary for them to have the freedom to pursue happiness.  Founding father, Benjamin Franklin is credited with the quote, "The Constitution guarantees you the right to pursue happiness.  You have to catch it yourself."  But, how are the people expected to pursue happiness and to thrive when Congress blocks the very avenues needed for such pursuit? 

    Where transgender people are concerned, Republicans are either ignoring the truth, or they are ignorant of the truth.  That truth is that gender identity is a natural part of the human experience, and that it's deeply personal, according the American Academy of Family Physicians; not the one size fits all ideal commonly thought to be true.  Furthermore, transgender people of all ages should be allowed their right to pursue their happiness.  Republicans feign concern for transgender youth, saying puberty blockers are unsafe and could harm the child's future.  But, they're ignoring the fact that for the past three decades, puberty blockers have been safely used and their effects can be reversed.  There's already a very strict set of rules governing the care of transgender youth.  That's not good enough for the Republicans, though.  They want to have the last word concerning the transgender community, and that word is for this community to cease to exist.  But, guess what...  We aren't going away!

    Republicans lie about us, saying that we're dangerous.  But, real data doesn't support their lies.  According to the Gun Violence Archive, between 2013 and 2025 there were over 5700 mass shootings in the U.S.  Of those events, only 5 were confirmed to have transgender or non-binary shooters.  That's less than 0.1% of the mass shooting events.  The Violence Project, which uses a more strict definition of mass shooting (4+ deaths), places 97.5% of mass shootings squarely on the shoulders of cisgender men.  Basically, the group complaining the most about my community is the group responsible for the greatest number of these tragedies.

    Republicans also lie about the mental fitness of the over all transgender community, telling everyone who'll listen to their bullshit that transgender people are all mentally ill.  Again, there is no data supporting their claims.  Many believe these lies because they can't understand how it can be possible that a person born with a specific sex could ever identify as anything else.  Honestly?  I'm a trans woman, and I don't understand it.  Mentally ill?  Nah... I'm fine!  The best that I can explain it is that it was like there was a chemical imbalance affecting my cognitive functions.  As soon as I lowered my testosterone and increased my estrogen, I leveled off.  Now, I can say that after six decades of my mind being in a state of anguish, I'm finally happy!  I spent my entire life wishing I could die; now, I'm loving life.  Does that sound like I'm mentally ill to you?  If so, perhaps you're the one in need of a check-up from the neck up.

    Like I've said before, and I'll no doubt say over and over again, I'm not in favor of the Democratic Party.  I dislike them at least as much as the GOP, for obviously different reasons... but, also for one massively similar reason.  They're both ushering in an end to personal liberty.  Any group that wants to force the more affluent to pay for the costs of the less affluent places itself in control of the financial capabilities of both, the more and less affluent...   Likewise, any group that wants to force you to live by personal standards of their choosing, thereby affecting the happiness and peace of mind of millions isn't at all concerned with your freedom.  They're more concerned with your conduct matching their own.

It's Your Fault... Own It!
