What Makes You Quake
Tell me something: Why is it that the "land of the free" is so uncaring about minorities? I think I know why. I think that societal minorities represent a shift that frightens you deep inside. Transphobia doesn't allude to the idea that you're afraid of trans people. Homophobia doesn't allude to the idea that you fear homosexuals. The thing that you fear... what makes you quake... is the question, "what becomes of society if you no longer control it with your Euro-Christian zealotry?" This fear... this phobia... is very much akin to that which is responsible for racism, sexism, and various other "isms" throughout humanity's checkered history.
Just because you read something in a book that you have been told for thousands of years is the actual "Word of God" doesn't mean anything except that you're a fool. The early Christian church picked what manuscripts they wanted to use when creating the Bible for the purpose of keeping sheep like you in line. Did you read the passages telling you that you don't need a priest or minister to regulate your relationship with God? No? They exist... but, not in the book you know. What did you think of the Book of Mary? Oh, right... that one wasn't included in the Bible, was it? I guess it didn't fit the sexist narrative of the early church. That sexism, by the way, is evident in some of those verses you love so much. For instance, 1Cor. 14:34-35. "The women should remain silent in the churches. For they are not permitted to speak, but should be in submission, as the law says. And if they desire to learn anything, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is improper for a woman to speak in church." That one sounds pretty sexist to me! But, of course, you don't believe that one, right? I mean, why else do you have women leading prayer services, song services, and acting as ministers? You apparently don't believe that, but you want to go with the supposed condemnation of queer folk? Hmm... Selective opportunism... In this way, you can refuse the people you don't like and let slide those that you do.
Apparently, you only believe those passages in the Bible that serve you best. So much for the whole "Word of God", huh? Or, is it a matter of, "Well, nobody's perfect?" So, what about Christ's words in the Sermon on the Mount, when he said, "Be perfect as your Heavenly Father is perfect"? I guess you really don't believe as much as you like to profess, huh? And, yet, you want to use your false and part-time faith as a weapon against others. For what purpose, I wonder. To feel superior? To feign righteousness? You aren't the servants of God, but of self. You use God to grind those you oppose into the ground. You drive those same people away from God with your actions and behaviors, but, in so doing, you're condemning yourselves. In Matthew 18:6, Jesus told us that it would be better for you to have a millstone hung from your neck and for you to be cast into the sea, if you were to cause others to stumble in their faith. How long can you hold your breath? I think that if I were you and I had driven away members of the LGBTQ+ community in some way, I'd do some repenting. But, you know... do what you think is best. I'm sure God won't mind.
Or... will He?
Slightly less than 1% of the population of the U.S. is known to be transgender. Now, add to that the rest of the LGBTQ+ community. Do you want the loss of even one of those souls to count against your own soul? You probably don't, but that's very likely a possibility.
What makes you quake is the idea that you might be guilty of causing even one soul to turn away from God. It makes you quake with fear for your own soul's sake. Or, it makes you quake in anger to think that a trans woman will call for you to account for your actions and seek atonement for your behavior.
This is all on you! Those of you who would force trans people into your little boxes! This is your guilt; own it! What can be done to atone? Keep an eye out for future installments to this blog. Because, honey, I'm going there!
