Republicans Are... What They Claim Democrats to Be

Republicans have long claimed that Democrats are, among other things, hypocrites and non-intellectual. Rep. Nancy Mace of South Carolina is not only providing proof that Republicans have their own hypocrisies, she has proposed a bill that has encouraged Republican voters to come out of the shadows and present themselves as hypocrites and non-intellectual, as well.

When self-declared transwoman, Sarah McBride was elected to Congress, snowflake Republican representative, Nancy Mace was triggered and immediately presented a bill to keep transgender women out of all of the restrooms in the capital's government buildings. That bill, however, is challenged merely by the fact that for several decades scientists, doctors and judges have agreed that individuals can change their sex but presented no clear answer as to how this could or should be accomplished.

The argument of one's chromosomes has long since been refuted due to the fact that there are, and have been, people who were assigned one sex, or the other, at birth by means of genital observation and then later found to have the chromosomal make-up of the opposite sex. Then, too, there are the variations in the number if X or Y chromosomes.

  • Klinefelter Syndrome: Extra X chromosome.

  • Jacob's Syndrome: Extra Y chromosome in males.

  • Triple X Syndrome: Extra X chromosome in females.

  • Turner Syndrome: Missing one X chromosome. (Monosomy)

So, you see, arguing chromosomes is no longer a valid argument.

Of course, the gonadal argument is of no use. If a trans woman gets a vaginoplasty she no longer has testes or a penis to identify her as male. So... that's out.

So, Mace's Republican colleagues came up with a stricter definition of sex... because they're so much more knowledgeable than scientists, doctors and judges on the matter. They want to define sex by one gamete or the other; either sperm for males, or ova for females. In time, gender researchers will find a way to trip this up, I have no doubt. In the meantime, the problem with this sort of legislation is that it provides the government with the authority to scrutinize the private medical records of everyone... cis and transgender alike – in order to determine if a woman can, has, or could have produced eggs, or if a man can, has, or could have produced sperm.

Such legislation then opens the door to the government having the freedom to invade your privacy. We may as well throw out the Constitution as this would make it possible for the government to bypass the 4th Amendment. This is being done by the Republicans! You know... the ones who claim to revere the Constitution.

While they're doing this, there are other factors they're overlooking. For instance, these arguments generally center on security, fearing the natural aggression of cisgender males. However, studies show that post-op trans women lack the aggression of cisgender males. Also, they use the argument that transgenderism is a perversion. But, they also argue that homosexuality is a perversion. So, why aren't they attempting legislation to keep Lesbians out of the women's restrooms and Gays out of the men's?

Another argument they like to use is that transgenderism is a mental illness. The fact of the matter is that the American Psychological Association, American Medical Association, and the World Health Organization have each found that transgenderism is NOT a mental illness, but a state of being. Like BEING left-handed. Or, maybe they mean gender dysphoria... which is considered to be a psychological condition, like everyday human emotions. Do we now attack people if they fall in love? If they're angry, do we disallow them access to common amenities?

If honestly scrutinized, the truth of the political Right's stance stacks up to be nothing more than ignorance, dislike and anger. Or, in a word, prejudice. And in their prejudice, they are, in the least, violating every transgender person's constitutional right to pursue happiness. In answer to this, they may argue for their right to privacy. Public restrooms come equipped with doors on their stalls. Therefore, affording them acceptable privacy. Furthermore, if an individual violates their right to privacy, they should go after that individual in a court of law – not attack an entire marginalized community. By attacking the entire community, they are possibly in violation of various sections of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which protects members of marginalized groups from discrimination, based on

  • Race

  • Color

  • Religion

  • Sex (which the Supreme Court has ruled includes sexual orientation and gender identity).

  • National Origin

Why is this matter even being argued? Also, should not a federal judge put an injunction against the advancement of such bills?

Regardless of one's feelings about transgender people, their constitutional rights are being violated by members of the Republican Party and many American citizens are in favor of these actions with complete disregard to the potential future risks that they could one day be presented with themselves.
