Resistance or Acceptance

From time to time, I've lightly touched on an idea that is radically un-radical.  A method of gaining more acceptance in society than we're going to get trying to shove an agenda down everyone's throats.  As I've stated before, I used to be on the other side of this.  I know how they think, and how they feel; how they act and react.  I also know that you will never get anyone to accept you by bludgeoning them.  In other words, we need to stop with the zealotry.      Zealotry refers to fervent and uncompromising pursuit or advocacy of a cause, belief, or ideology, often with an intense, passionate, and sometimes fanatical commitment. Here are some key characteristics that typically constitute zealotry: 1. Intense Passion      Zealots exhibit an extreme level of passion and enthusiasm for their cause, belief, or ideology. This intensity often borders on obsession, with a singular focus on promoting their views. ...

Celebrating Trans Joy at Christmas

Christmas is a time of joy, love, and togetherness. For many transgender individuals, it can also be a time of reflection and celebration of our unique journeys. As we gather with loved ones and embrace the festive spirit, let's take a moment to honor our authentic selves and the strength it takes to live our truth.      The holiday season is a perfect opportunity to celebrate the courage and resilience that comes with being transgender. Each of us has faced challenges and triumphs on our journey to self-discovery, and Christmas is a time to acknowledge and honor those experiences. Whether you're spending the holidays with family, friends, or chosen family, remember that your identity is a beautiful and integral part of who you are.      As we celebrate Christmas, let's create inclusive traditions that reflect our diverse identities. This could mean incorporating symbols and decorations that represent the transgender community, su...

Stop Thinking With Your Emotions

Identity politics:  The Democratic Party has played that game for decades.  In its beginning, it purported to be for the poor man which was ironic, given that the party was started by rich men.  Then they said they were the party for the Blacks, although it was the party of slavery.  They covered up for that by saying there had been a great switch, but history recorded no such event actually happening.  Anyway, what good have their policies done for the Black race?  None!  No more than their policies have lifted the poor out of poverty.  Now they say they're the party for the LGBTQ+.  I have, yet, to see it!  The only reason I've ever seen for the identity politics they use is to thwart the Republican Party.  Politics is a game of power, not of concern.  Like organized religion, it's a system in which man controls man... nothing more.  Neither one is there for the good of your soul, your sanity, or your liber...

Get Off the Sidelines

If you're transgender, you shouldn't be on the sidelines.  If you are  on the sidelines you're as good as helping the federal government and various state governments beat down the transgender community.  These are treacherous times for the our community and no transgender individual should be comfortable sitting on the sidelines!  Recently, both houses of Congress passed the National Defense Authorization Act, which contained anti-trans legislation refusing to allow payment for the medical costs of trans youth of military personnel.  Now, if you've read anything I've written on the subject, you know that I'm not big on medically/surgically transitioning minors.  What I must insist on, however, is appropriate legislation.  Whether or not parents let their children transition is between the child, parent, and doctor.  It would have nothing to do with the defense of this country if they chose to allow their child to transition....

The Importance of Staying Hydrated On HRT

Staying properly hydrated is crucial for everyone, but it becomes even more important for transgender individuals undergoing hormone replacement therapy (HRT). Hydration plays a vital role in maintaining overall health, especially when your body is adjusting to new hormone levels. As a trans advocate, it’s essential to understand the significance of hydration and how HRT can affect this aspect of your well-being. Why Hydration Matters      Water is essential for nearly every function in the body. It helps regulate body temperature, transport nutrients, and remove waste. Proper hydration supports skin health, digestion, and even cognitive function. For transgender individuals on HRT, staying hydrated is particularly important because hormone therapy can influence fluid balance and hydration needs. HRT and Its Effects on Hydration      Hormone replacement therapy involves taking medications that adjust the levels of sex hormones in your bo...

To Ease Transgender Holiday Stress

Many have transgender individuals in their families, or in their circle of friends, yet have no idea how to make them feel included and loved during the holiday season.  Here's a little heads up!  Were you aware that this particular time of year is a peak season for suicides?  It's a fact, and quite likely that transfolk will head up that list this holiday season, for lack of support.  What makes it even worse is that some of these lovely souls might not be lost if only silent well-wishers would step up and advocate on their behalf.  However, those well-wishers may not know that they could potentially save a life, or how to in this case.     Here is something I want you to think about:  In Nazi controlled countries, during the second world war, there were silent sympathizers who hid and fed Jewish people.  Without them, the Jewish death toll would have been much higher.  Those sympathizers were bold people, to say the...

Call Me Ronnie

I don't know if I was bisexual and feminine from birth, or if it resulted from the accident when I was three, or when the family pervert raped me when I was five.  All I can say is that this has always been something I've lived with, but kept hidden away so I wouldn't have to deal with angry outbursts like the one when I was seven and my father yelled at me to quit walking like a faggot.     I remember when I was little, I loved to watch "The Archies".  The first time I heard the character "Veronica" called Ronnie it resonated with me, because that's what my whole family called me.  I remember thinking, "if I was a girl, I'd want my name to be Veronica."  These days, I think, "if I could change my gender marker, I'd naturally have to change my name to a feminine name.  And it would be "Veronika".  I would prefer, though, if my friends would call me Ronnie.  People who've known me all my life would probably e...

Venting

I really need to vent!  I apologize if a post concerning faith isn't for you, but you may actually take something away from this that you wouldn't expect if you have the gall to stay and read it through.  A lot of people in the LGBTQ+ community have, sadly, turned away from God, thinking God is against them.  But, friends, God is no more against you than He is anyone else you will ever meet.   I know, "Christians" will say, "the Bible says..."  I don't give a good crap what the Bible says about our sexualities.  What I do care about is the individual souls of each and every one of us!  Not just LGBTQ+, but EVERYONE!  You have to take what the Bible says with a grain of salt, because ( gasp ) the Bible is NOT the ACTUAL word of God.  It is the INSPIRED word of God; meaning it was inspired by man's ideals of God.  The men who wrote the Bible told us what they believed was godly in their opinions.  However, th...

Intersectionality Series Pt. 10: Transgender Immigration Intersectionality

Navigating Immigration Challenges: The Plight of Transgender Individuals Immigration is a complex and often daunting process for anyone, but for transgender individuals, it can be fraught with additional challenges and risks. As a trans advocate, it's crucial to shed light on these issues and offer support to those navigating this difficult journey. Legal Protections and Documentation Transgender immigrants face unique hurdles when it comes to legal protections and documentation. Many come to the United States seeking safety from persecution, economic opportunities, or to reunite with family. However, obtaining legal status can be a significant challenge. Transgender individuals may need to change their name or gender marker on official documents, which requires navigating complex legal processes and providing medical documentation. Discrimination and Violence Transgender immigrants are particularly vulnerable to discrimination and violence. In immigration detention centers, they...

Intersectionality Series Pt. 9: Transgender Religious/Spiritual Intersectionality

Introduction      For many people, faith and spirituality are integral parts of their identity. However, for transgender individuals, navigating these aspects of life can be particularly challenging. The intersectionality of religion or spirituality and transgender identity can create unique experiences of acceptance, rejection, and personal growth. As a trans advocate, it is important to explore these intersections and offer insights into how transgender individuals can reconcile their faith with their gender identity. Religious Acceptance and Rejection      Religious communities can be sources of both support and exclusion for transgender individuals. Some religious traditions and denominations are accepting and affirming of transgender identities, offering a welcoming space for spiritual growth and community. These inclusive faith communities can provide essential support, fostering a sense of belonging and acceptance.      However, ...
